NMI Crime Stoppers would like to announce the statistics for the 1^st quarter of 2010.  Recent statistics has shown a sharp increase in the recovered stolen property and drugs within the last quarter. 

Back in December of 2009, with the help of a Crime Stoppers tip, the CNMI Drug Enforcement Task Force (DETF) executed a search warrant and recovered over 70 grams of ice at a street value of $35,000.00.  While executing the warrant, investigators also recovered over $5,000.00 worth of stolen property which included power tools, chain saws, and a portable generator.

Recent tips for this year included information that led to over $ 14,000.00 of recovered stolen property that included a car, laptop computers, and digital cameras. 

In addition, another drug tip resulted in arrest and search warrants that led to the discovery of over $2,500.00 worth of drugs (ICE), and over $20,000.00 worth of stolen property.  This included audio, visual electronics, concert type stereo speakers, and expensive fishing tackle (rods and reels).   

Crimes Stoppers and DPS would like to thank the public for their tips which continue to help identify criminals and criminal activity here in the CNMI.  Crime Stoppers would also like to recognize the hard work of the Police Officers involved in investigating these crimes and bringing the criminals to justice. Since it’s inception in 1989, the NMI Crime Stoppers program has provided tips to law enforcement agencies allowing law enforcement to arrest over 220 criminals.  Law enforcement agencies have recovered over $2,750,000 worth of stolen property and seized over $2,500,000 worth of illegal drugs.

Over 363 individual criminal cases have been cleared.  For these results the NMI Crime Stoppers Program has paid out $20,000 in rewards over the years.  The program works and that it “is” cost effective.  The NMI Crime Stoppers Board of Directors is made of men and women volunteers, whose mandate is to maintain the anonymous tips line and work with the community, media and law enforcement in getting criminals off the streets of the NMI.

Our organization relies on donations from the community to keep the program operational.  We want to sincerely thank each of these sponsors for committing to make a great difference in our community.  In addition we wish to thank our partners in law enforcement, the media, and anonymous callers that provide the tips we need to solve crime in the CNMI.

It  It was a great two days with IT&E coming in 1st place, Megabyte 2nd Place, and Wells Fargo Financial 3rd place.  Players and fans had a great time and our generous sponsors have once again come through in helping making our island a safer place.  Thanks again.  We hope everyone had fun and we will see you again next year!!

NMI Crime Stoppers would like to announce its 8th Annual NMI Softball Tournament scheduled for March 6th and 7th 2010 from 9:00AM to 4:00PM each day.  The tournament will be played at the Capital Hill Ball Park.  Teams signed up and scheduled to play are the following: 

DFS Saipan, Docomo Pacific, IT&E, Megabyte, Pacific Islands Club, Pacific Trading Company, Shell Marianas, and Wells Fargo Financial.
